I just finished downloading two files at 0.11M/sec...that's 110k/sec...
...a long way from 3 weeks ago, when I'd be happy to hit 3.5k/sec on my 33.6...
Here's to high speed internet!

yeeeehaw! Ha, and the funny thing is. There's people that laugh at are measly connection. Ha, atleast we've moved up a notch on the bandwidth food chain.

5.4 kb/sec. it's probably at 5.33 kb/sec just rounded up. are you laughing at me? stop laughing at me. I said quit it. anyways the sad part is I'm estatic when I get 5.2 kb/sec, now that's just sad. still waiting for media one to offer cable and I'm too far from the switching station for dsl so I'm screwed. everybody cry for me tonight /forum/smile.gif. actually it's more like /forum/frown.gif

300k/sec..but that was as a student at Georgia Tech on there phat-daddy network /forum/smile.gif then it dropped to about 2.3k/sec at home on a modem /forum/frown.gif and now its at about 130k/sec on our cable modem /forum/smile.gif which is just fine for me. for those of you who have never experienced something higher than a 56k modem, you really have no idea what the internet is like.
Would almost, I said almost, give up my wife ( 51 years of Bliss) before giving up Mediaone internet connection. /forum/wink.gif RJ

i have a 56 modem at home and I have gotten downloads that start out at 20k/s and the drop rapidly down to about 4k/s....at school we have a t-3 so and I have seen up to 50k/s but then I have never downloaded anything big enough to give me the limit of the network around here(which admittedly suck)...so i do know what life beyond a 56 is but it is more money than i have to get anything better...

I am on something that can only do .2mb/s now, but I have used a network based on a T-15 line on the weekend when nobody was there, and huge 20mb files didn't download much faster, the server I am sure.

Shut up! Just shut up!
I get 3.2kps to 6.5kps at the office and 4kps to 6kps at home.
Cable isn't available where I live (but it is where I'm moving to!! /forum/smile.gif). Everything else is either too far or too expensive for me to get. Rumor around the office is that within the next year we might be getting anything from cable to T1 for our internet access, but then again, that is just rumor (it helps being one of the people that make the recommendations though).
Maybe I'll ask for a high speed line for Christmas, what do you think Santa?

Compared to all of you, I am a very sad and pathetic creature. In the backwoods of Wisconsin, we call 2.3kbps a "high speed".
But by X-mas I hope to see the cable company with cable modems (they have been hinting at it for about 3 mos.) :-(

the fastest i've ever downloaded with my cable modem was 751K/sec. ie. a 5mb file in 7 seconds!!
so for 55 mb. multiply 7 seconds by 11=77 seconds
meaning 1 min and 17 secs!! nice eh? hehe
TOO bad i dont' get that kind of speed from anywhere else but from my isp. lol

Smokin1,
Afer the test is done hit the "prtscn" key (its usually up by the F12 key) Then you will need to open a photo editing program (such as MS Paint) and then choose EDIT ->paste -> AS NEW IMAGE. Vovla you have a screen shot! Then when you are all done cropping and sizing the picture I would suggest saving it as a "jpg/jpeg" format (smaller file size for faster uploading and downloading) Upload the file (picture) to your website and then use the " " UBB code to get it to show up in the forum.
Will watch for your picture!

Downloading 5MB MP3's gets me done in under a minute at almost 90kbps. I downloaded the IE4 SP2 update (10+MB) and it came in at somewhere between 300-400kbps (probably cached on the server). Of course, this is @home. Man, do I ever smile every time my 5MB downloads finish quicker than I can get up and make another Captain Morgan and Coke!

'scuse me!!!!!. 600 kbps, 300 kbps. Here in the UK I have trouble getting 3 kbps with v.90. At best a friend can get is 4.8. Sadly alot (all) of the UK is lacking in high speed connections. And if we do want them the phone companies charge a fortune. So all of you in the US be very grateful!! I would put a piccy up, but it would shame us brits!!

Raw Data:from http://www.computingcentral.com/topics/bandwidth/speedtest50.asp
If you're just dying to see the raw data used to calculate your download speed, here it is:
download start time: 942777951250
download end time: 942777951360
download time: 0.11
download size in thousands of bytes: 50
estimated line speed (K bits per second): 3709.1
estimated line speed (K bytes per second): 454.5
@home best speed!!!! WOrst speed was60K last night. That is the problem with cable modems. I am not complaing though! I downloaded staroffice 5.1 in 4 min 62megs !!! It takes longer than that to download a 2meg file on my freinds 56K modem HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Not bad for $45 a month. And people say I pay to much. Hell it better than a T1 for less than half! GET A CABLE MODEM IF YOU CAN!! If not more bandwidth for me HA HA!!
