o.k., you install win2k and when you set up the username and password it asks you if you want to assume this logon each time sys is started. but if you choose no, then the logon prompt comes up each time you boot. What if you choose no but later change your mind? Is there anyway you can change a setting in the OS to enable the autologin?

Bear with me, I installed W2K a few months ago and had the password / login problem, if I understand you. Im fairly certain one is given the option to change passwords. If you can figure that out or find it, leave password blank. The password screen will still come up, but the OS will finish loading without you entering anything. Sorry, that's all that I remember.

To get it back, go into the control panel, select the "users and Passwords" applet.
Highlight whatever account you want to log in automatically under, uncheck the box that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer..."
A prompt will show up for you to enter the password you want to auto login with...make sure it is the correct password for the account you selected, as this is NOT the place that allows you to change the password for any account.

Yes....Go to the control panel and choose the User/passwork applet and under the USER tab at the top uncheck the box. and also under the Advanced tab make sure you have the check mark removed for "require a cnrt-alt-del" prior to log in.
