I have this ASUS P2B-VE motherboard that is just peculiar to me. It is inside a Hewlett Packard system but the motherboard wont seem to boot up. I think it needs a CMOS clearing but just can't figure how to do this.
I don't have a manual and ASUS does not list this board at their site. I am almost certain a good CMOS clearing would fix this but just dont know how.
If anyone could help out, thanks.

Hi mushi, you say the system won't boot up? Is the computer even POSTing? What do you mean the system won't boot up? Maybe your power supply is bad?

Mushi;
I know nothing about your board, but if all you care to do is clear the CMOS, you can do it by removing the battery overnight.

The CMOS clearing feature of most all Mainboards is simply a jumper that, when shorted (installed) for about ten seconds, discharges a little capacitor to ground. This capacitor is responsible for holding the values of the CMOS.

Even if you don't find the particular capacitor to discharge, merely removing it from the battery supply for more than a few hours will accomplish the same task. Do it for 12 hours and you are darn likely to have exhausted it completely.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the computer will not boot at all. Only power comes on, no post. I'll try removing the battery overnight. I thought about that but only left it out for 5 minutes. Maybe overnight will do the trick. Once thanks again. If anybody else has suggestions, feel free...
