Yeap... cool little app. Been using it for quite a while and have around 800MB on MP3.

Too bad here the T3 and the 2 T1 lines are saturated... so those MP3 have been obtained through a lot of blood and suffering /forum/smile.gif

Yeah! Simply the best I've seen.
My paranoid friend doesn't like the "sharing" aspect but to me and my 3.5 gigs of .mp3 music got no problem with it! I will happily risk it

4.6 gigs wasted on MP3's of cd's I have just so i dont hafta sort thru my collection...bit wacky eh?..but im lazy like that /forum/smile.gif

Hello all:

I hate to spoil the party, but it's this whole thing about the mp3 "craze"...

For those of you who may remember, I was the person who originally posted the "underground sysopt" thread...

I got a lot of people on this board angry at me because I was reluctant to post the address of another site that was using UBB and thus appeared similar in appearance to Sysopt. Board members were saying that the use of pirated wares "deprived" program developers of their right to earn income for their products.

But how different really is the concept of downloading mp3's; people are obtaining the "intellectual and artistic property" of musical artists. This time, the artists are the victims instead of the programmers.

I know the whole idea of mp3's is to try it out, and to buy it if you like it. But really, if you're storing "3.5Gb" of mp3's, I find it difficult to believe that you're going to run to the music stores anytime soon to buy the ones you really like...

And it's not just the junior members who come to this board, praise "Napster", and are never to be heard from again. Looking at this thread, and others of the same topic, I can see well recognized members of this board extolling the virtues of this mp3 sharing program...

I just find it ironic that if the "victim" isn't so close to home, it's tolerated...something to think about...

UBB or Universal Bulletin Board is a widely distributed product developed and maintained by Infopop formerly Medrano Park Inc. I used their freeware version on a site I was running about fourteen months ago.

Why would anyone be mad that a site beside SysOpt.com is utilizing UBB, do they think SysOpt.com has an exclusivity agreement with its creator?

If it’s because of the general layout or feel of the board is similar to that of SysOpt.com, it’s pretty much programmed that way; you have relatively very little control over the look.

You might be interested to know; over one hundred thousand sites across the web are using either freeware or commercial version of the UBB program as their bulletin board system.

It’s a great program, easy to setup and manage; I would highly recommend it to any Webmaster interesting in have a bulletin board.

In regards to MP3 I don’t fully get it. I can’t imagine how many wonderful “b” side songs are getting lost in this rush toward targeted music.

I guess when all the quality musicians have dropped out of the industry because they can no longer make a decent living and were left with the crappy wannabes, people might realize you get what you pay for.

Regards to All,

Zotz Mein

Okay Andrew... you are right about the over-abuse of the MP3 format. But you have too see the other side of the coin.

Are you going to spend lots of dlls to get a CD or cassette for only 1 song or 2 maybe that you like?

Also if you really like an artist or song, well at least I do, buy the CD.

It all depends on each people. Maybe using lots of HD or CD space to store MP3 may sound like crazy, but some of those songs are way too difficult to get on their origial media.

Its like the console emulators... you may like an oldie either be Atari, Arcade, NES, etc. game. Where are you going to find such a game now a days?

There will always be people (ain't pointing anybody here or anywhere else) who take this ideas as shortcuts to avoid paying and making it bad for everybody else.

Well... this is how I see it... anybody is welcome to either like, dislike or totally think whatever he/she wants about it. I have no prob. with that.

Zotzmein:

If you read the original thread, you'd understand. You can read it here:
www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/001545.html (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/001545.html)

It's quite entertaining, actually... /forum/smile.gif
