Hi.
Celebrating the fall of M$ empire, im about to switch to new os. I do mostly numerical analysis, enginnering, multimedia and internet tasks. Im wondering about BeOS, some Linux flavor and Solaris 8.
Any suggestion/resource for the right decision will be great.

Thanx in advance.

Linux offers many free CAD and office suites, as well as video & audio capture and editing capabilities. It also comes with FTP and web servers as standard, and all for free. BeOS is another great operating system, but it is still in it's infancy, and doesn't offer the same amount of free software. I have no experience with Solaris, although I do know it's free for non-commercial use.
