Ok, so I have Sandra 99 and when I run a memory benchmark, it comes up 53/52 for cpu/fpu respectively. I cannot figure out why this is!!! My system is better than a couple of the reference systems that are listed and yet it benches so much lower! What is the problem?
System:
300 mHz K-6 2
64 MB PC-100
4 MB S3 Vid card
mboard has via chipset (I don't know the manufacturer)
6.4 GB HDD
Any help would be MUCH appreciated /forum/smile.gif

Sounds like you have a weak vid card.I had a AGP 4mb card on my PII-266 and upgraded to a CL TNT 16mb AGP...What a difference! Also,Sandra may not reference well to a VIA chipset.I'm not sure on that though. You may want increase your RAM to 128,seems that's the standard now especially if your running Win98......DawgTuff.

My system shows about the same on Sandra -- AMD K6-2 @366mhz, 128 mb sdram, but only a 66mhz buss. The memory benchmark is lower than any of the others (66 - 72), but the CPU, multimedia, and IDE drive benches are as high or higher than the 400mhz examples. Buss speed is the biggest factor, I'd think. Don't let a benchmark bother you -- if your system is reliable and reasonably crisp you can't do much better.
