(k7M k-7 700, 128mb, 15.3 WD IDE, 250 watt power ATX, windows 98 SE)I just got my computer up and running however i've encounted only 1 problem so far. when i boot up the machine and detects hard drive it switches on and off between stanby mode! sometimes it will do it a couple of times real fast and then continue loading as normal. other times it will stay in standby mode untill i press a key or mouse button. there is a message though " udma mode detected but disabled". in windows though it says UDMA mode is enabled and running. even when i first started the computer it did this...with no o/s and cd drive. occasionally it will also do this in windows while installing a program. i used ASUS Probe and everything looks fine.

Unfortunately I cant' provide you with an answer, but we are having a similar problem with a friends machine. If you switch it on it goes to standby and you then press reset to get it going!! It's an FIC mobo and according to the supplier this is how it's meant to start, but it doesn't do it all the time. In the meantime I would check your power-supply is AMD certified and if you get a chance change it for a 300w psu.
If I get any more info I'll post you.

Try to change polarity of power and/or reset connections on the motherboard (you have 3 options to check, since one is already checked http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif ).
