HELLO,
I just installed a P3 Coppermine 700MHz. 100FSB on my Asus P3B-F, the install went fine, but I'm getting Blue screen errors at start up, I just enter and windows starts, I'm sure its just a windows thing, but I'm unsure how to fix it.
Any idears before I call Microsoft and put $35.00 in there pockets.
Thank you
Jim

Right after the post, before you get to the startup logo, start tapping on the "F8" key. You should get to a start menu, push 3 for safe mode, then <enter>. See if it boots O.K. into safe mode and look in the device manager for problems. If you have Win 98, you can go into system configuration then and do a selective startup or uncheck the start-up items to narrow down the problem.
Dave
BTW- You think you got everything in the BIOS set right for the new chip? did you get any sucsessful boots after the upgrade?

Thank you, I had set the Bios to the default befor upgrading, its a jumperless Bios, and it detecked the new CPU OK,
At a closer look, at the blue screen errors, its somthing to do with my sound card, its a Sound Blaster Live Value card, I think I remember reading something about the SBL V card and the Coppermine what I don't remember. Any idears

There are new SB Live drivers that fix a bug for processors over 600mhz. I put a pIII 650 in my system and got immediate blue screen. Try the new drivers, I bet it works.

Thank you everyone,
I have a Asus P3B-F, rev.1.03, BIOS ver 1005, Which supports P3 Coppermine 600,650,700,750,800MHz. Pros. with 100FSB,
I get 2 blue screen just after boot up just when its starting Win98Se, the blue screens errors mentions an error in EMU10K1 application and will be shut down, the EMU10K1 is my sound card, I have not updated the drivers for over a year. Just update them and this will go away?
Thank you
Jim

Forgot to mention, I'm getting no sound at all, within Windows, but when I ran Q3 the game had sound and worked fine, at exiting the game going back to the desktop it frooze up real good, had to use the reset button to get out of it.
Jim
I had BSD after upgrading to p3 600, w/SBL Mp3+. I downloaded latest SBL drivers and it fixed the problem. Is EMU10K1, your card? The SBL had this as a part of the card I believe.

You could also try the soundcard in another slot or try it with it out to see if it is the sound card that is causing problems.

Get the new drivers. As I said before, I had the same thing happen to me. Same error (VXD EMU10K1). Try it! Post results please.

I downloaded the drviers last night, because I was getting more and more lock-ups. The install went fine except for restart where it locked up, but once it finished the restart, all the problems went away. No more blue screens or lock-ups, checked it by running different applications had no problems with any of them.
Thanks everyone for your help
