I'm working on a customer's computer, they complain that it has a PII in it because Windows 98 says so. The motherboard only comes with a PIII.
I am assuming that Win98 does not recognize the PIII because it wasn't out yet. I tried a test drive with Win95 and it says it's a Pentium Pro. So I think I'm right just making sure.

Windows 98 was made before the register for the PIII was recognized. Its still a PIII tho http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif The celeron is also a PII in Windows 98.

You poor soul. I don't envy you having to explain that one. Customer probably thinks he's being gyped already w/ repairs and now add this to the mix.

Can anyone give me an easy download for the customer (an easy benchmarking utility) that will give them a second opinion from Windows reported Processor?

Just create a folder anywhere and place the exe file inside it. Then double click it to extract the contents then just double click on the icon and it will give them all the info they will need http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
