I bought this at a local auction, as-is, but after cranking it up, the system policies has run, file search, regedit, and many other things disabled by the "system administrator" . I found the config.pol and ratings.pol files, which doesn't help when deleted. I can't get access to the internet, because of the content ratings password......I know how to remove that from the registry, but again, the STUPID regedit is ALSO disabled by the system administrator! If I reformat, I lose all the software that's on it!!! I know poledit could probly help, but the floppy isn't working, to install it......Is it Hopeless???

Thanks!

First, what is the machine? ( ie. make, model, components etc..) and second, what OS are you using and list any relevant software that may have been used for the admin OPs that you may know of?...You have what seems to be a tough problem to solve, but unfortunately stated in a very undetailed general question here and in order for any one to help out effectively, more info will be needed for troubleshooting your situation.
I'm sure someone here will be able to help your plight once we know more of the finer details http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif .

Do you have a spare hd? you can put it in as a slave and copy the directories you want to save to that, then reformat, install os, and copy directories back again. From a time standpoint, this isn't as bad as it sounds!

poledit.exe is on the Win95 CD. You can run it from there or a floppy and undo the policies you don't like.
