Hey everybody,
If you're looking into buying some new hardware but don't know where to start. I recommend going to
Setprice.com. Their service is free and there is no registration necessary. Just enter your email and some information on the product you're looking for and you'll get personalized and COMPETITIVE quotes from dozens of vendors.

It's basically an reverse-auctions where vendors compete for your business so the price goes lower. It worked for me!

Oh yeah, and there is no obligation to buy either.

how do the prices compare pricewatch.com and pricescan.com?

SoopaStar, I think how it works is that you would enter the price you are willing to pay for any particular product, and setprice.com will search for vendors that are willing to sell at that price.

Pricewatch now has an IBM 20.4G Deskstar 25GP listed for $156. If I limit my purchase price for that HD to $150 at setprice.com, they will seek out a vendor who might sell at that price.

That must be why they need your e-mail address...so they can notify you of a vendor who will honor that price.

Susan - that's exactly it. I've heard of people getting the new SB Live! X-Gamer for $50-60 shipped through it. They're very competitive - don't be afraid to go low, I guess.

mp3man, please don't post in multiple forums. PC Steals and Deals would be the optimum forum for this post and I see you have posted there. Be advised that I am removing the third, since there are already responses to this thread.

Thanks.
