Does anyone know where the call comes from for the PCI Steering tables in the Device Mgr.? I thought it first looks to the BIOS and then makes a comparison with what Win wants to do?

It depends on how windows access the information and whether or not windows is set to do nvram/escd updating. This allows win9x to override the bios settings and forces its own configuration. Intel based systems have no problem with this, but I usually disable pci steering on super7 systems for stablity reasons.

Windows goes through a routine that depends on how you have it set up. The easiest way to determine how windows is interacting with your system is to check under the pci properties in the device manger. Then just right click for help, and almost every option is explained decently (MS finally got something right /forum/smile.gif ).

The other way to do this, I take it. Would be to step through the system.ini log? The specific error message in Device Mgr. is, "IRQ table has some errors." This dictates a fixed value. It then follows disabling the nvram/escd (i.e. BIOS) updates should reset the fixed value. There by eliminating the error. Is there a possibility that these values could be hard coded (EX. OEM BIOS) so that it would not be possible to reset. I would appreciate any and all thoughts on this issue Thx, --Livewire
