For some strange reason my floppy drive has gone mad. It will format disks o.k and most of the time I can copy stuff onto them. But then when it comes to taking the stuff of the disk, well thats a different story. An error will either come up saying general disk read failure, or disk not accessible, access denied. Any disk that comes into contact with my floppy disk is useless. You can look at the files on the disk e.g if you click on my computer then a drive you can see whats on the disk but you cant use it. I thought maybe it was a knackered disk, so I tried some others, but they have all failed. I suspect a virus, or is there a setting somewhere, maybe the bios that is stopping me reading from the drive. Please help me.

Here are a few things you might try:

- Reseat the cable connectors
- Try a new cable
- Try a different floppy drive (if you have one you can swap out). If the other drive works, get a new drive. They're cheap.

Good luck,

Steve

sounds like your drive is toast...how long have you had it?

new ones are only around $10 or so you might just want to get one and save yourself the trouble =)

Ive got another drive that I can try, so I will see, but like you say if it is broken then I will just by a new one. Cheers for the info.
