Any comments as to what might have caused this? SoopaStar 05-10-2000, 11:33 PM If you search MS's support site, they say a lost time is caused by the CPU or the system's resources to be seriously taxed. Like when you noticed that your mouse is moving VERY slowly and it is taking forever for things to open. It happens to my PC at work. I am getting ready to reformat it because it is REALLY buggin me Paul ^EvilDragon^ 05-11-2000, 12:55 AM If your clock jumps back by exactly one hour, then, probably, your time zone set unproperly, while windows performs time synchronization with some external clock. joe111 05-11-2000, 08:03 AM Thanks for your comments. My PC clock goes back exactly 1 hour. And yes, this PC is connected with a Windows CE device on a daily basis. However, the time setback doesn't occur after the syncronization. Besides, the CE device's clock is set the same time zone. This time setback usually occurs after I leave the PC unattended for about 4-5 hours. Dave_H 05-11-2000, 09:05 AM A couple of my systems do the same thing, almost exactly one hour, about 3 times a week. My problem is an issue with Nortons Anti-Virus, versions 2000, and 6.x cause this to happen on some systems. Symantec KB article (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/1999100114323206&src=hot) A patch is offered that supposedly cures most systems, although the permanent fix is still in the works. Dave blunij 05-11-2000, 10:36 AM I have had a similar problem. I lose time by the half hour. It seems at random. My computer is on most of the time (DSL) and there seems to be no pattern to the time loss. Sometimes I go days without a problem. Sometimes it happens twice in three days. I have tried the above Symantec fix. I changed my CMOS battery. I have changed the time in CMOS. All to no avail. I have a Pentium II 450 running Windows 98 with 128 RAM. I have Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus running as well. I would rather not run one of those programs that constantly checks time from some site and changes it. I would rather find the problem and cure it. SysOpt.com
