problems with surround sound speaker extensions

I bought 6 6 foot long rca extensions for my rear altec lansing surround sound speakers. when they are strung together, only the rear
left speaker has sound. but both work fine when pligged directly into the subwhoofer...
is this just faulty wiring or is all the sound getting channeled into one speaker?

You need to check the cables that you bought and see if they are mono cables. If they are that would be why you are only getting the left channel in the rear speakers. Your solution would be to return the cables and buy stereo cable.
