LJE2 05-06-2000, 08:40 PM Leave it in, I have a 13 month old Compac Presario 1260, I too rarely use it on battery, so I took it out, I forgot about it for about 6 months, and when I put the battery in it would only charge up to 40%, I called Compaq Tech Support and they said my warranty expired 12 days earlier, I said I had an extended warranty, but it turned out not to be with Compaq. So it called the company the warranty was with, they told me the battery is not covered (it would have been if I had got the extended Warranty through Compaq, but I didn't know any better, I thought I was, but it turned out to be through Office Depot. I have tried all the different conditioning programs but the battery will not charge past 40% and I get about 30 minutes on battery is all. It is also a Compaq Lithium Ion battery, a new one is about $125. thekingofpain 05-06-2000, 09:13 PM Thanks guys http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif thekingofpain 05-07-2000, 12:04 AM We rarely use it on batt power, would it be better to remove the batt entirely and shelve it, or leave it in the machine on what must be a trickle charge to keep it amped up???...Not concerned with having to charge it for later use, just wondering the best way to keep it usable longer as its now not being cycled...
