Alrite guys and gals, bear with me, I'm new here.....
need all yar advice on this particular matter:
I have a 6Gb hard disk, partitioned into 3 drives, and one of the drives has my OS, Win98 installed in it (the C drive)
now I would like to have everything in one nice big partition, instead of 3. And achieving that without any lost of data...
What is the best way to go about doing this??? Help!
will be glad to furnish more info if required...
Thanx for reading http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Hi
The short answer to your question is Partition Magic 5 (from Powerquest).
I would advise you to keep one partiton (c:\) for the OS only, just in case sthg goes really wrong. You would be able to safely format and re-install the OS without touching the other partitons.

Thanx Stan for the quick reply.....your answer sounds similar to the one I got from my fren....
He suggests:
Using Partition Magic,
1)backup the stuff in the 2 partitions (the ones without the OS),
2)then delete/remove the 2 partitions,
3)expand the OS-installed partition fully,
4)move the stuff back in.....
Correct??? Anything wrong??? Or any better solutions???
I guess I'll be buyin that Partition Magic 5...
Thanx

Partition Magic 5 has a merge partitions option but I can't remember if you can merge two partitions with data on them to gether.

One problem you may have in doing so would be if you have programs installed on the D and E partitions. You may need to un-install them before changing partitions and then re-install them onto the new C partition.
All your data would be a simple task of changing the shortcuts to point to the new location, but programs could give you problems if they are no longer in the same partition they were installed on.
Just something to consider.

it also comes with all the proggys to move your other proggys to other partition so you can save it all with out reinstalling everything. It is trully a magical proggy !i love it !
