Does anyone know how to get passed the required registration in MS Office 2000. It allows you to run it 50 times before you are required to register it. Is there any way past this???
Thanks

Stan 04-26-2000, 08:39 AM This is what I read in an email from a colleague. Unfortunately, source is unknown.... so it might be a hoax... I do not believe this is true but.... Today's Office 2000 Enterprise Tip SR-1 BRINGS CHANGES IN OFFICE LICENSING Do you have a single copy of Microsoft Office installed on both your home and office computers? If so, you're in violation of the License Agreement. What about simultaneous use, you ask? Unfortunately, no--the license agreement allows for the software to be installed on a home OR office machine AND a portable--but not both a home and office machine. Oh, well, you say--those things aren't really enforced, right? That's changing, too. Beginning with SR-1, the Office Registration Wizard will create a unique ID for your computer, and you'll be forced (via Internet, fax, e-mail, or postal mail) to get a confirmation number from Microsoft before your fiftieth use of the product--otherwise, it will stop working. It'll let you install on a home or office machine and a portable, but beyond that, you'll need multiple licenses or a special exemption from Microsoft. I installed SR1 at work AND at home. I did not receive any warnings or messages telling me to register before the 50th use. Let's wait and see......... Stan [This message has been edited by Stan (edited 04-26-2000).] Bleeding Edge 04-26-2000, 09:05 AM The info from Microsoft’s site seems to be clear enough about this issue. It basically states: -The Office Registration Wizard has been testing for two years now. -It will be added to new releases of Office 2000 SR-1 for English and Canadian versions, both for OEM and Retail to prevent illegal installations. (“..will be expanded in Canada and the United States to all Office 2000 retail versions in the near future.” Is what they say.) -So only newly purchased Office 2000 SR-1 soft are affected. -If your installing the Office 2000 SR-1 update from the Web or CD, your software will not be affected by the O.R.W. As of now, “ORW is found in all Office 2000 suites and individual applications sold in Australia, Brazil, China, Hong Kong and New Zealand and in Academic Edition Office 2000 in Canada and the United States.” ~edit~ There's a web page with hundreds of valid (working) registration codes and serial numbers for almost every product available, Office 2000 included. I am not posting the URL. It can be found easily enough. -B.E.
