Hi Nike
depends on case and power supply, also if it's economic, you won't be able to go to ATX mobos, but you might go to AT pentiums, if you can't upgrade you could always try giving the 386 to a school that needs computers because they can't afford ( only when you have replaced it with some thing better.)

It all depends on what you want your computer to be able to do.

If it's just word processing or other simple applications, then yes. Add some RAM (30-pin SIMMs are difficult but not impossible to find) or replace the hard drive with a slightly bigger one (an old BIOS may have trouble with anything too big) or add a CD-ROM drive, whatever.

But if you want to run Windows98, the latest applications or the latest games, then no - forget it. Nearly every single component would need upgrading and the money would be better spent on a brand new PC.

You could build a new celeron or k6-2 system for what it would cost your to upgrade yours. For hardware needs, consult: www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com)
