I recently purchased a CD-RW and I am not sure about how everything works.

I would like to write a twenty Meg file to a blank CD-R. Will doing so make the entire disc further un-write-able or will only that portion of the CD used be filled?

Let me try to clarify that further: will I be able to write to the disc until it is filled or is it simply a one time shot and you fill it in total or lose the unused space?

Thanks

Zotz Mein

PS. I know a CD-RW disc would be best for this "fill as needed" scenario.

Zot, The short answer to this question is yes, you can write only the 20MB or so you want to a CDR disk, and then write more data to it later, but how you do it really depends on the mastering software you use. Most will support a burning session that does not automatically "close" the disk to further writes. There are even some that can still write to a disk that had been previously burned and the session closed. However, because there are a ton of mastering programs out there, telling you exactly how to do it is a lot more involved than this forum is good for. Please take a look at the manual you have for your mastering software. It should explain how to do it for you.

Good luck.
