multiple monitor troubles

I've just tried to set up win 98 to run two monitors.
The desktop wallpaper shows up on both screens fine and I can move the mouse over both screens ok, however when I try to do anything on the secondary monitor (even a mouse click) the whole thing locks up.
I'm using a matrox mystique for the secondary video card and have the latest drivers for it, which are supposed to support multiple monitors.
Can anyone help????

check your IRQ's sounds like you have a conflect with your mouse
