Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : can't access floppydrive(win98seprob)
I had this exact problem and had to do the following: The original floppy was a sony and had a short floppy drive cable. I changed to a TEAC floppy and put in a longer cable (an old one--in fact, still had the old style 5-1/4 drive connector on it, too). Since doing this change, I've had no problems. I have no idea WHY this worked. Good luck.

davey: Welcome to the wonderful world of Win 98 2nd Edtn!!!! Wish you could have heard me the first time I booted to it!!! Immediate
uninstall, luckily without having to format!
But the full install on my daughter's computer works fine. Go figure... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

cheers for the reply's fella's ive not tried replacing the drive or cable yet but may as a last resort. wierd thing is i tried taking out some new yamaha sound card drivers (updates on mme + asio)in case they were causing the prob. drive started working fine until i switched off then came back later and drive was inaccessible again??
