P-III or AMD Athalon 500 Opinions Please!!!

I would like som help on deciding on weather to buy a P-III 500 or a AMD Athatlon 500. I have heard great things about both and I also learned that the AMD is 17% faster that the P-III overall. I will primarely use it for high intesety gaming.
Any help or opinion would be very much appriciated!!!!!!

Well, I know that the Athlon Motherboard is alot more expensive. But if money is no object then Athlon.

Hey, here is the deal. Get an athlon. You will love it... then when they come out with motherboards that support all its features( high bus speeds, etc.) you will like it even more!

I hear that the Athlon motherboards don't work with the GeForce video card. I'd go for a PIII 500 over an Athlon 500 because Intel motherboards don't have problems with video cards.
