Does anyone know a way around the logon box for WinNT??? We have a computer here. Dell
PII266 that once upon a time was connected to the network. It is "GOING" to be just a stand-alone, and I'd prefer not going through our IT department right now. I know NT is pretty solid in it's security, but can I get in without a userid? I've tried logging in a new user, and I've tried logging in as admin, but without password it's hopeless. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

From what I have read, you have to reinstall NT4 if you can not remember your password.

Thanks, I think that's going to be our only option at this point.

Smokin1--- That came up on a search in Yahoo. I was at work when I found it, but our server filters wouldn't let me on. I'm home now, so I'm definately going to check it out. Thanks for the reminder. /forum/smile.gif

if the file system is FAT16, you can boot to dos and rename your default screen saver to something else temporarily, and then rename the user manager executable to the screen saver file name that was being used and reboot and wait for the screen saver function to activate and you will get user manager, with system access.

Never tried it, but I hear it works.

Well, I've decided that since I'm not getting paid to take care of this, and our IT department is.... Then, I'll just let them fix it. Thanks for the suggestions, and I'll be sure to pass them on if the situation ever presents itself again. Thanks all.
