Have a prob with pc just built. I have a celeron 500 processor, abit be6 mobo, gigabyte sloket conv.
The first power on i found that nothing would happen even though power went through to the mobo, and there where no bios error beeps or codes. All parts are fully seated, and tried two vga cards, but still no response. Also checked that mobo supports hardware and it does. Does anyone have any ideas that i could give a try?

Double and RE-double checks of the connections from the case to the mainboard. Make sure the CPU and the memory are properly seated.
If need be, remove the motherboard and make sure you have no extra metal which might be touching the motherboard (such as extra standoffs which are sometimes metal).
Remove any and all cards and see if you get beep codes. Then reinstall one at a time beginning with video and reboot each time to check for errors.

It's possible you have something shorting out the motherboard. Have a look at this thread and see if it might help. http://thedam.com/cwm/smile/cwm/spiny.gif

Hello,

Had a similar problem and it turned out to be the CPU settings. Check to make sure they are set properly and at not overclocked. You can then gradually set them highr to overclock. Also could be too low a voltage to CPU.
Hope this helps!

Hello
I would sugest the patern Underclocked said, ripping them all off and try installing one at the time to se what the problem is. If that don't work try changing the gigabyte sloket conv. Some times the problem is right there
Good luck

The same thing had happened to me before, and the vid card did not seem to be the culprit. It turns out that the RAM I used was not the right kind. The monitor would not turn on.

I suggest you try inserting a different RAM chip and see if it works.

Another thread had the same problem: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum2/HTML/006332.html
the user eneded up changing several things, (one of them being the ram) and it seemed to work. Good Luck
