I just purchased a new printer (Epson Stylus 900) online. I will not reveal the name of the dealer until I find out if the shipping charges seem excessive to members here. The company is located in Ohio and I live in California. The printer is being shipped UPS ground and will take about 5 business days. I am being charged $38 for shipping for a $340 item. Is this too much? Thank you for any and all feedback. Ramona

It is a high price, but I have seen worse. I have seen company's charge 20-30 to ship ram! These companies sell cheap, but jack up shipping to mke money /forum/frown.gif To put this in perspective I ordered 80LB's of dog food for 5$ shipping (flat rate 5$ per order) Now dont get me wrong they took a big loss, for a person to ship that much it would cost about 13$ for that size, and a printer is much lighter/smaller...
Oh well.... If you got a good deal on printer just factor shipping into price and see if its still a good deal if it is great, if not scream fubar..

you can always try to find out how much the printer weighs and talk to ups directly and ask them how much it would be to send it.
sounds steep to me though. Although not the same items, my 34 pounds tower case that cost 99 bucks was about 12 dollars to ship i believe?

The key here is "Handling"! Shipping is obviously alot lower!

Well considering you didn't pay tax and the retail price of the printer is 399 you still saved money. It is a little high though. It's about 15 pounds. I think it should only cost about 9-10 to ship but it depends on the method.

Sorry, should have read your post more carefully. :O It should not be 34 for UPS ground. That is excessive.
