I've got a 100MB external iomega ZIP drive, (nearly usless now just because of the cost of the media, but that's another story), a guy at work was telling me about the "click of death" problem with these. Well, low and behold, two days later mine started clicking like mad and it locked everything up and required a reset to get me out. Pretty wierd, since I've had it for a long time, but stranger things have happened. Anyway, I got all spun up about checking to see if iomega would replace it or not. I finally got tired of reading about ongoing class action suits and pending deadlines so I pretty much gave up and decided to see if there was any way that I could still use mine. I tried Norton and a few other utils, but no luck. Then, I finally tried another disk in it and didn't seem to have a problem. The prob was intermittent, so I wasn't really sure if that was it or not. I re-formatted the original disk and haven't had a problem since. So far so good, anyone else run into the same thing, or know any details of exactly what causes this?
