I have 32 Megs of EDO RAM and want to upgrade to 64 but SD RAM is cheaper. Can a SD RAM DIMM work with a EDO RAM DIMM or SIMM's? would the RAM run at the lower EDO clock speed? My ASUS TX97-E supports SD RAM so that's not a problem. Thanks in Advance
It would run at the slower EDO speed.

Yes it should work but there are still a few things.
1. Get PC-100 it'll run at 66FSB but can be used in the future.
2. Some TX motherboards can't support DIMMS larger than 32M.

Check with motherboard manufacturer. My board has both SIMM and DIMM slots, but most recent rev of manual warns not to mix. EDO Simm is at 5V and SDRAM Dimm at 3.3V. Motherboard would have to supply both voltages simultaneously to the different configurations. In my case, I mixed 60ns EDO
SIMM with 10ns SDRAM DIMM,it works, but tech support said the DIMM was now running at 5V, will shorten life of chips. Just check it out thoroughly as to how your board is implemented. Some DIMM slots are in banks with SIMM slots, so can't occupy both at same time. Regards

Not recommended. As posted above, they run at different voltages, and all you will do is fry the new DIMM.
