Wow, Congratulations Scott!

Sounds like a good business deal, and leaves you with more time to devote to content and other areas within. SysOpt continues to be my main source of information and tech support.

So, how much EWBX do you suggest I buy *wink*

Best Wishes on this new venture. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I have only just begun to use this site,it is without question a #1 site for the new user such as myself.I don't have the technical knowledge to say the same from that standpoint, but I am sure this site is up the scale there to.So quite the deal ,here is wishing you all the luck in maintaining your control on the part of this that you want.It would be a real shame if it became a corperate playground. So keep a sharp eye on their suggestions and ideas on how things should proceed ,keep doing the great job you have so far.

Someone wanted to buy the site! No surprise there. As long as it does not become too commercial, this is great! Congrats, does this mean no more 4gb hard drive running the entire site?

well when i first found sysopt like 3 months ago, it was the best site for a newbie, and now with the help of everyone on this site i am a lot more knowledgeable about all things computer related. congrats scott, and good luck.

This deal should keep you in beer tokens for a while http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Glad to see that you retain editorial control. Like chad174, I found this site a couple of months ago as a hardware newbie and now I've built my own system and got a C400@500 x 1.8v. I wouldn't have even known what that meant without the high quality of articles AND the discussion board maintained by the Sysopt team.
While this excellent resource stays clear of whining, flaming and ignorance (I won't name other sites http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif ) I shall continue to attend.

When this site first started I remember getting some answers via email and I knew then that the concerns were genuine...and now that the as Editor-in-Chief and directing content will remain the same, I'm positive that there are NO Worries

No worries? It is slower, there are fewer new articles, I don't want to **** on scott or anything, but I would think with more money available, you could have more stuff, not less.

As with any acquisition, the problem has been with the transition. First, I had to move SysOpt from Pair to EarthWeb's servers, and rewrite several CGI scripts to work on SunOS. That took about a month. Then, I had to familiarize myself with EarthWeb management and other employees, in order to work out various details and coordinate content direction, budget, expenses, etc.

And the acquisition didn't automatically bestow us with manufacturer contacts. It's a never ending battle to convince manufacturers that we're worthy of eval products. That's progressing, slowly, but Comdex should help. I've been asked to be one of four (along with Anand, Sharky, and Tom) guests on ZDTV's live broadcast from the Las Vegas Convention Center to talk about several new products, so that will improve our manufacturer relationships.

And in order to have compelling new fresh content, we have to have people write it. That requires finding contributors, working out contract issues, coming up with topics to write about and/or products to review, etc.

All of the above takes time and we're working on it.

Scott

P.S.- I don't think it's slower. I have a DSL line and it fires up instantly.
