It seems that the Tyan Trinity Motherboard will not accept PCI controller cards and networking cards. I have tried every possible configuration with a number of 3com ethernet cards and DMA controller cards and none of them have worked. I was able to get a ISA ethernet card intalled. Further more Tyan has not offered any help with this problem.

True, Tyan is not known for their support.
I have the Trinity 400 board along with an Intel pro100 Nic,(no issues)perhaps you should try one of those.
Well, I should also add that I tried 2 different SCSI cards, 4 DMA controllers, and 2 PCI ethernet cards. None of which worked, even when they were the only card installed. And I moved each of them to every slot to see if that could be the problem. It would seem that a card that works is the exception to the rule with this board. As for other types of PCI cards I have not had a problem.

EliC,
I have a Trinity 400 w/PIII 733 and I have two PCI NIC's installed - one for my cable modem and the other for my LAN. Almost two months run time with (sound of my knuckles hitting my wood table) no problems. I did have some trouble in the past with a 3com PCI NIC in a Tyan MB, but it turned out to be a conflict with IRQ's. Keep trying, if I remember right it took me a lot of hair pulling hours to get that problem resolved!
Good Luck

On that board, I had a PCI NIC (Linksys 10/100)
...And a Montego Quadzilla worked in it too...but a SBLive didnt wanna work on it.

Yea, i had a problem w/sblive also. I had to disable the Dos emulator, works fine now. This board dosen't seem to be the best at allocating resources and overclocking is not really an option. I still think it's an ok board all and all. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
