I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking to do, but if you right clic on 'My Computer', go to to the 'Performance' tab-'Virtual Memory', you can either let Windows manage the settings, (which Windows Recommends) or pick 'Let me specify my own virtual memory settings'. I set the 'Maximum' and 'Minimum' size the same, (I set mine at 256 for both), As far as I know, this keeps Windows from having to keep resetting the Swap file size, thus making the swapping a bit quicker. I go one step farther and have Speed Disk (Norton Util) optimize the Swap File, keeps things running smooth for me.

I picked this tip up from Sandra, I'd be interested in hearing from others who know more about Windows use of Virtual Memory.

I think this is one of the definitive links for managing the Swap File

Thanks for the link SG!
Looks like a very informative site. I'm dropping my permenant swap file size down to 128MB for now, I had it there before, but up'd it to 256 a short while back, not quite sure why I did that. Sounds like 150 may be the magic number, but I guess it all depends on how one uses their machine.

I think 150 is a good swap file size. I just added 64mb for a total of 128, and asked the same question if I should modify my swap file size.
