This is kinda in conjunction with the post a couple down. i'm still purchasing the parts for my new computer and here is my question. does the abit bp6 support a scsi cd/rw??? i've heard that especially in the area of cd/rw's scsi is much better than ide. can somebody tell me if the mother board supports this and if so what recommondations do you'all have??
thanks a bundle

The Abit board with support SCSI WITH THE PURCHASE OF A SCSI CARD. Not many motherboards come with scsi "on-board" but all will support scsi "add-on" cards such as those made by SIIG, ADAPTEC, DTC and others. I personally use Scsi and love it! (running a full PLEXTOR setup for burning...8x burner with a 40x cd feeding it)

thanks a bundle mntsnow-
are there certain "add-on" cards that will work specifically with the abit bp6? how do i go about deciding which one would work best. as for now it's just for the cd-rw.
thanks

Rarely are there problems with SCSI cards. The ones Mntsnow are all good. You should know, however, Adaptec is synonymous with SCSI.

I can personally atest to both SIIG (http://www.siig.com) and ADAPTEC (http://www.adaptec.com) cards working with the ABIT motherboards. I have both of these cards and unless I need another UW2 card I will get another SIIG. As for what you would need for any of the burners that you were insterest in (scsi that is)the AP-10 is the one that I would recommend.( it is classifed as a scsi2 also known as FAST scsi, it has the 50 pin interface both internal and external allowing up to 6 devices (7 including the card) will work great with all the scsi burners that are on the market at this time. They are almost 1/2 the price of the adaptec cards and have great support and excellent drivers.
