Hello everyone, I am about to order a computer from Cybermax.. can be reached at http://www.cybmax.com Anyhow, i was wondering if anyone had any experiences with Cybermax or actually owns one. If so, has their systems given you any problems? I must make a careful decision for i'm about to order a computer that i will live with for about 3 years. Also, is a V.90 Standard fax modem a PCI winmodem? I heard winmodem sucks but someone told me it wasn't all that bad. The only modem Cybermax offer is the V.90 Standard 3 com modem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have NO personal ordering experience. One lady here in town bought a pc from Cybermax and never got one piece of the software package that was promised, however she liked the computer very much.
I do know their salespeople used to try to direct you to a product of which they had more inventory or to one with higher margins and I didn't like that.
I would advise ordering online (you can customize within limits) and print out any and all documents associated with the order.
Then do any followup via phone and email.

Never ordered one personally, but I'm responsible for several at work. They're all made with good quality hardware, and haven't given me any trouble at all. But these systems are just office systems, and not powerhouses. Just read the fine print before you buy and get a checklist of what you're supposed to be getting.

Oh boy what a great question.
I ordered a Cybermax system and after almost a month my AMD k6-3 400, V3 3000 finally showed up. My order was changed three times because I was told that a video card was delaying my order. That was not a major problem. Okay so I finally got it and it was great. I was so impressed that I recommended the system to two friends and they bought the exact same system! All was good in computer land. Maybe not. The one system is still running fine, the other, after numerous attemts to repair through service, has resorted to having her credit card company stop payment. My system took a lightning strike through an unprotected telephone cord and after 4 months is finally fixed. Not covered under warrenty. Cybermax telephone help is available if you want to wait an hour but I did not. I contacted Tech help through email(usually got a response after 2 business days). I would be happy to send you letters so you could see first hand how they help(?) their customers. Through replacing every card, memory chip, motherboard, hard drive and processor I have come to appreciate what quality parts can mean. I have not looked lately but a month ago AMD was listing Cybermax on their homepage as a "Direct Partner". AMD also has a list of recommended motherboards and low and behold the board in our systems is not listed for our processor, it is listed for the k6-2 but not the k6-3. When I saw that I did email a complaint to AMD but I have yet to get a response.
Sorry about the runon, but I got worked up!
So, forget about saving $300 buy a Gateway.
Cybermax service sucks.
