Those of you who know will know why I want to know this (if you know what I mean?!?).
How do you change the type of an individual file, in a truly hypothetical situation, how would I change an executable jar file (*.jar) to a, let's say mp3 file.
Enough said.
Thanks.

Just simply rename it using either the dos REN command, or through windows explorer (right mouse click on file, and choose rename).

.jar is kind of like .zip, its an archive. download the program to "unjar" it at http://www.arjsoftware.com

To actually change the extension though, you have to have "Hide the Extension for Known File Types" turned off, otherwise when you try and rename, you will add the new extension as part of the filename, which is not what you want to do.
