I am having strange modem problems since the new motherboard/ CPU install. The system is Tyan S1854, 128M PC133, Celeron 500. The modem is a Crative Modem Blaster v.90 in the only ISA slot. It will work after removing the modem from the Control Panel and rebooting though the "Logging on to network" takes about 30 secs. Otherwise I get an error 629, disconnected from host computer.
I already downloaded the updated drivers from digicom and that did not fix the problem. Maybe this is something in the registry files?
Any help would be appreciated, I'm about ready to go get a PCI modem.
Thanks!

Error 629(win9x):Remote disconnection
a. Username or password check
b. Make sure the proper modem is selected in the DUN properties
c. Check the dun icon to make sure the number is entered properly, no extra characters
d. Check everything
e. Make sure "cancel the call if not connected within" is set to at least 60 seconds
g. Try to connect by bringing up a terminal windows after dialing
h. Make sure the user doesn't have 128bit encryption for dun installed
i. Disable access ramp if installed
j. Set flow control to "software" in the modem properties

If it is an ISA modem, then dont change flow control to software cause it is most likely not a software modem. This will just slow your computer down. Also check you bios settings for that ISA slot. Most ISA slot share with the last PCI, so if ya filled up both slots then you might have a problem ...

sorry bout not catching the software flow control...was tired, and didn't catch it...
ISA modems usually are hardware modems.
does your isp have a tech support line?

Check your dialer: make sure "Log on to network" is not checked.
Only things that should be shecked in Server Types are: Enable Software Compression and Tcp/IP.
