Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Fresh WIN98SE install coming up with VXD / Explorer errors
Installing 98SE on a fresh unconditionally formatted (format C: /u) harddrive, the first boot after installing all drivers comes up with a VXD error: VXD_Fl0log along with others on subsequent installs. It also comes up with Explorer errors. I don't understand how a fresh install of an OS can come up with errors. WHat can be wrong?

What are your system specs? devices?
Which drivers are you loading and in what order?
I think we've narrowed it down to the ATI video drivers. Because we've kept it at the standard display drivers and it's been booting fine. Are there any known issues with the ATI Rage II ?
... still doesn't explain the Windows Explorer errors that occurred before... hmm.
Well the same RAM stick is working fine in another system I just built. No VXD errors or Explorer errors.
Is it possible for the harddrive (in the problem system) to have remnants of previous installs even with an unconditional format?
NT did not develop this problem (do they use VXDs?). May have narrowed down to cards or harddisk?
I thought RAM problems would develop a POST error?
Need more input if possible.. thanks people!!
