I have a dvd player on my computer and an ATI card which handles the decoding. My computer is the server in our household, and im trying to configure it so I can watch the dvd on other computers in the house. First, what exactly do I need to share on the network (the dvd drive), and can another computer use the hardware decoding of my ati card, or do I need a put some sort of software decoder on the other computers? none of them have an ati card. If so , if you guys coudl point me to a good software decoder (I tried power dvd and it skipped like crazy when going to a new chapter). Thanks in advance!

Concevably, asuming every part of your network is up to spec with DVD speed, you may be able to share the DVD-ROM drive, have the other machines boot it as one of their own drives, and some software decoders should be tricked, look for free ones, they are abondant now.
