I backed up some files onto a CD-RW, fomatted my HDD the did a clean install of win98. After installing my HP 7200 CD-RW drivers I popped in the CD-RW and none of files are there, what is the deal? Win98 says the disk has 604mb of data on it, why can't I see the files? I have my folder options set all view all files, so that is not the problem.

Probably becuase when you made the cd you didnt "close" it. and until install your cd burning software and close the cd or use the direct cd application you will not be able to use that cd to recover the files.

I have installed the burning software and I still can not see it. I formatted the CD-RW to be read through drive letters, then added my files. I thought doing that way there was no need to close the session b/c there was no session. Doesn't it work like a floppy? I know this has worked before but this time it didn't. I just tried to close the session and it said that is was closed already, then tried to recover track and it said they were, still no fies.

YO!!!
I have this problem 2... well trust me I was xtremly frustrated, I just hope that the info that u lost wasn't 2 important.
What happened was that u did 2 sessions, one right after the other, and with adaptec sometimes it corrupts one and u can't read it. Its weird but it happens.
Now what I did, and not sure if it worked or not(while ago) was burn the section I wanted by sectors, using cdrwin, there is other software that might let u do this.
try.
Good luck, if I remember or get home sometime this year I will let u knwo what I did
