at boot up it says my hd is smart capable but disabled
what gives
how do i enable it ?

Would need more info, like the mainboard brand & model, same for the HD.

Not really sure it's anything to worry about, really. Tech Encyclopedia definition:
S.M.A.R.T.

(Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology)
A drive technology that reports its own degradation enabling the operating system to warn the user of potential failure. It was included in EIDE drives with the ATA-3 specification.

Now, if it reported a failure rather than "disabled", THAT would be a real cause for concern!

It should be in your BIOS. That's where it was on my mainboard.

I think that programs like Sandra are able to identify stuff like that. Hope it works.

thanx where in bios no mention of smart in mine
also how would i find out what hd and mainboard i have do i have to open case and look
