I know this has been addressed but can someone tell me why Win98SE will not shutdown????????
P.S. Yes I have used the supplement and it did not help???????

It's ACPI related. Some of your hardware is probably not fully compatible.
There's a few threads around here with the same topic. Most of them comes to the same conclution.
Disabling the "Fast Shutdown" is also another solution, commonly suggested. (Didn't work for me though, my NIC is the bad guy here.)

I was having this problem with Win95.
Socalgal had me disable all the power managment in Bios and control panel and now it works great.Dont know about win98/se.

Hey Sprocket: Do what I do on my daughter's computer, press the power button. My computer with Win 98 shuts itself off and spits out the Zip disc, but her gotta do it manually.
