well I get 44fps when palying unreal, and my monitor refresh rate is at 100mhz so I know the jumpiness that I get when I turn real fast is due to my mouse. originally I used a ps/2 mouse and everthing was fine but my ps/2 mouse stopped working so now I'm stuck with this serial mouse and while typing I can sometimes see the mouse pointer blinking which tells me the mouse refresh rate is too low and why quick turns in unreal starts giving me headaches since the mouse is not refreshing enough. can I change the refresh rate somewhere in the sysedit files.
This is a c&p from www.regedit.com (http://www.regedit.com)
It says it's for WinNT, but try it anyway if using Win98 and let us know if it works.
PS2 Mouse Port Rate Adjustment (Windows NT)
Ever noticed how your mouse cursor flickers sometimes, or doesn't run as smoothly as a mouse cursor on a Macintosh? That's because the refresh rate is set too low, modify this key to speed things up and make your mouse cursor move smoothly.
1. Click on START>RUN>
2. Type REGEDIT and click OK
3. Find the key listed below and doubleclick on "SampleRate", choose Base > Decimal, then enter a value from 60 - 200, where a higher number = smoother cursor.
4. Close the Registry Editor and restart your PC.
Registry Settings:
Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\i8042prt\Parameters]
Value Name: SampleRate
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 0 - 200 (default = 60)
