web access problem

I am having problems accessing some popular web sites like microsoft, oracle, sun, etc. I keep getting "the document contained no data, try again later" message no matter when I tried. However, I could access those sites with my labtop using the same phone line with no problem. I am really puzzled. I e-mailed tech support at Dell and they told me to clear the history files and temporary internet files but that does not help at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check your DNS entry in the dialer.
Go to My Computer -> Dial-Up Networking.
Right-click on your dialer, go down to Properties. Go to the Server Types tab, click on TCP/IP Settings down on the bottom.
Make sure you got there selected:
Server assigned IP address;
And either Server assigned name server addresses, or Specify Name Server Addresses with Primary and Secondary DNS specified. If they are not specified, contact your ISP and ask for this numbers.
