I just recently got my cable modem installed. Yeah, I love it. But now it's like I am learning how to walk again because there are sooo many sites that I used to turn away from the I can now explore. FTP sites for instance. What are ratio's and what is a credit? I think I understood the credit part because I uploaded a file and earned a download, I think. But sometime I upload and still don't get the credit. I really want to learn this stuff, can anyone help?

Some FTP sites allow general access and work on the barter system. If you upload a file that's already there, you don't get a credit. Also, credit may be delayed while the FTP site evaluates your load to - a - see if it works, and - b - see if it has any virus content. Sometimes this takes a day or so. - It should be listed in the documentation for the site.

Yeh axel is right on the money, you gotta read the read me file, and this would include types of files they want or dont want, the ratio and how they expect you to operate. The ratio varies 3:1 5:1 etc, so for every meg you upload you can download 3 or 5 meg depending on that sites ratio.
