dial up hiccup

Can someone help me please? I am new to the computer and am having problems. I have a compaq presario mv500 if that means anything to anyone. LOL. Anyway my problem is when I first come on to the computer I am having problems with my dial up connection. It hiccups and continues to add little boxes at the bottom on my monitor. I have to close each one out, if I am not at the computer when this is happening, it seems to use up all my memory and I have to close for a long time, can you help me please. This is driving me nuts and it only started about 3 weeks ago, but I want it gone.

First off we will need the kind of pc you have. MV500 is a monitor. Look on the front of the tower and there should be a number there - four digits - like 5050, 4714, 5714, etc. . . This might get you a few answers.

Thanks for the quick reply and as you can see I am embarrassed by giving you the monitor number LOL. Anyway it is compaq presario 5184. I hope that helps you with my problem. Thanks again

Contact your ISP and tell them what's going on.They should be able to correct the problem.
