I have the original XBOX. I've used it streaming from my computer. Using windows 7.
when I try access my videos while on the xbox, it asks for username and password...says Dave PC is locked. etc. BUT, this has worked before...not sure why the setttings got all messed up but I AM sharing the drives I want to access.
Is there a way to SHARE "Dave PC" and not the drives? sorry I'm little confused.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing you setup the XBOX for media steaming ...Network and Sharing Center, Advanced Sharing > Media Streaming
XBOX uses WMP12 in W7 to stream media, so any video content you want to share must be added to the Video Library. You can add folders in the My Comp>Libraries>Video Properties Tab.
If you have Media Center , you can setup XBOX Extender, which should allow any content from "Dave's PC" .

The original XBOX? As in, not an older Xbox 360, but the original? I take it you aren't using Windows Media Center to stream video, if that's the case. I'd assume you're running some version of XBMC.
If so, that changes a few things. That means you could be using FTP or Samba to share out data from your PC to the Xbox. Perhaps you could shed some light on this? Thanks.

Yes the OLD Xbox. FTP yes. My friend set it up for me years ago. More recently I've been able to just watch movies on the xbox/tv streamed from the computer but now its LOCKED...need password and username...we had this problem before and he instructed me on how to share it again or something but he or I can't remember now. Crazy I know. All my drives are shared so that I can access it from my laptop....so not sure why xbox isn't recognizing.
