Just bought a P3 500 off of this person on the internet and removed my P3 450. P3 450 was running fine but the P3 500 seems to be running hot. It is running average of 80C. Is that normal? I have many fans and have check the heatsink and all that. What is normal operating temperature for this CPU? It is not overclocked....yet. Thans!

Hi nfrco3

According to Intel's sspecs for your chip, here
http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/p3p.htm

it appears you are running pretty close to the highest thermal spec.

Is this chip OEM or retail? What is on it - fan/sink/grease?

Please give us your system specs, motherboard, what voltage are you running at and what cooling do you have in your system?

What are you using to monitor the temp? Do you have the thermistor placed correctly?

Someone here with a P3 500 can help with this?

Edit: Moving this thread to CPUs and Overclocking forum.
