While waiting to hear from Tech support- thought I would post this:

Had to replace my hard drive. Installed Win 98 SE upgrade. It took the standard video driver. Went to try and upgrade the video driver, but there is a message on the cd that upgrading may make win 98 malfunction. The message indicates that the windows98 cd has updated drivers for this video card. (Well the upgrad CD doesn't). Went to the manufacturers web site, they do not have the drivers posted and they indicate that they are located at the Microsoft web site. Went to the MS HCL web site, they do not have drivers posted, they point you back to the manufacturor. Any suggestions on how I might get this? Would the drivers be on the full blown win 98 cd?

Looking at web sites with dots of color isn't too fun.

Thanks

I found these at Diamond's legacy support site:

http://206.156.108.200/products/drivers/s3d4000.html

I would try these, then upgrade to DirectX 7.0. That should give you the latest graphics drivers for your setup.

So even though it states '95, you think it would work? I have the original disk and it appears that the drivers are using direct x5? What type of damage could occur? After some searching on windrivers.com it appears that there may not be a compatible driver after all. (at least one comment appeared to believe this) Other comments indicated that the s3 drivers should be tried. I guess it is worth a try, can always go into safe mode and remove. Are the direct X 7 on Microsoft site? Thanks
