I cannot connect to my ISP (Mindspring). The highest I can get is 33.6. If it were around 40, I would assume line problems, but my old modem(desktop Winmodem) used to connect around 43k.

My current modem is a Global Village Modem/Fax/Ethernet. It is rated at 56k. I have updated the chipset to v.90 (the same as Mindspring). I have adjusted every setting I could. No change.

This modem is my lifeline when at home. Bellsouth cannot say when we will get DSL and MediaOne says that if all goes well I might get Cable by June.

I will try the PCMCIA card on another laptop and see what happens... (if I can find one http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif)

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Banti

what kind of transfer rate were you getting then compared to now? your connection speed may not mean very much.

My modem gave me alot of trouble for a while...its a win modem....so I tried removing and reinstalling drivers...that didnt get it....I was at the end of my rope and decided a clean install would be best...Now my modem works like new...go figure....
