I stepped on my dongle... I upped the chipset freq on my SD11 mobo/AMIBIOS/600mhz Athlon computer from 100 to 120 and now the computer won't boot or shut off. I'm using the UPS to shut off power. Without some kind of boot sequence, I can't get back into the CMOS setup to change it back. I tried a boot disk in my A: drive but it wasn't accessed. Any suggestions?

Refresh the CMOS by pulling battery or switching the jumper. Any other suggestions ?

Clear the CMOS using the jumper stated in your mobo manual.

One note: very few people get the VIA 686A southbridge to go over 110mhz. Some have trouble with 105mhz. Mine goes to 111mhz, but not one notch farther.

So as you can see, 120mhz is out of the question. I hope you haven't fried your southbridge.

Another note: when your computer won't shut off via the power button, hold it down for 5 seconds, and it will power down. Thats a little known ATX secret.

Thanks for the replies! I'm back up and running. I just moved the jumper on the mobo and rebooted. Too easy... <G>. Now to get into more trouble I'm investigating the FreeSpeed Pro to overclock my Athlon. heh he

Thanks again,
