Start Menu -> Settings -> Active Desktop
There? If not then write back.

Nope, lol, I wish it was that simple, that is the first place I looked for it and did a file check, nada, and reinstalled and looked for it as an option...nada....it has been so long since I put an IE in that I don't even remember what you do to have it in the first place...it is really annoying me!

Try control panel add/remove programs and click uninstall IE..it will bring up a box allowing you to add components...should take you to the web site to get what you need..

kdlindsey,
You mean it isn't there when you right click on the desktop???? That is odd. Can't find it under "find files and folders"?

Well I found it...i did a search at microsoft and you will never believe what I found out!
IE5 doesn't come with Active Desktop, just IE4.....soooo....I have to uninstall IE5, install IE4, put in the active desktop, then put IE5 back in....how incredibly stupid!
Thanks guys...hope this helps anyone with this problem in the future...I just couldn't figure out where it was!

Yup...I recently figured this one out. What a royal pain. I think a nice word that accurately connotes this sort of behaviour by microsoft is "inane" (plus it rhymes with "pain")

Just curious why anyone would want the active desktop enabled? Upon a fresh install that's the very first thing I goto and make sure it's disabled.
To each his own, and all that...but doesn't it slow your system down, like a lot? And since I've never really used it to any extent, maybe someone could enlighten me to what advantages there are with enabling it.

At the office I like to use the active desktop feature to scroll stock quotes and news across the bottom of my screen. I also set up an area to inform me of the weather outside. Like right now, it's snowing like hell!

I agree Outpatient. First thing I do is disable that "cute" Active Desktop feature and the setting that allows everything to be viewed as a web page. It is such a resource pig!
